What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a treatment where a chemical solution, usually containing acids such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, TCA, or salicylic acid, is applied to the skin to stimulate exfoliation of the top layers of the skin- otherwise known as the epidermis. This leads to regeneration of healthier, smoother, brighter skin. Chemical peels address various skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and uneven complexion, acne and acne scarring, dullness, and more. These skin conditions can be specifically addressed by different peels, usually dependent on the peel depth which is determined by the type of chemical used.
When picking your peel, consider your skin type, concerns, and goals.
Light peels are best for mild skin concerns such as dullness, acne, and some pigmentation disorders. These superficial peels usually contain ingredients such as glycolic or salicylic acid and have no downtime.

If you are looking to treat more apparent skin issues like fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, melasma, enlarged pores, or acne scarring, a more aggressive peel would address these concerns.
